Obituary For Zachary Patrick Midtgard

Zachary Midtgard, 33, of Lansing, left this world far too soon, but not without leaving behind a lifetime of laughter, love, and unforgettable memories. Zachary grew up in Columbiaville, Michigan, and later moved to Vermontville, where he met his love, Miranda. He spent some time in Kalamazoo while attending Western Michigan University before ultimately settling in Lansing, Michigan. He leaves behind a legacy of tenacity, talent, and grit.

A true Renaissance man, Zach was a talented mechanic, a gifted musician, an athlete, and, above all, the most fun person in any room. His quick wit, legendary pranks, and infectious energy made him impossible to forget. He had a way of bringing people together, seeing the best in them—while also keeping them humble with a well-timed joke.

For 14 years, Zach shared a deep love with his partner, Miranda. Together, they built a beautiful life with their three daughters, Madison, Elizabeth, and Charlotte, each of whom shared a special and unique bond with their dad. He recently began teaching Madison, 8, to play guitar, passing down his love of music. With Elizabeth, 3, he bonded over their love of WWE and cars. And baby Charlotte, just 7 months old, had her daddy wrapped around her tiny fingers—so much so that she would only take a bottle from him, refusing anyone else. Zach’s love for his girls was immeasurable, and he embraced fatherhood with boundless devotion.

Zach poured his passion into music as the guitarist for Immortal Insight, a Lansing-based metal band, and into his trade as a highly skilled transmission specialist. Whether he was fixing a car, shredding a guitar solo, or pulling off an elaborate prank, he gave it his all.

He is survived by his sisters, Courtney Johnson (Dan) and Noelle Midtgard (Nicholas Selders); his niece and nephews Laura, Abram and Benjamin. His Uncle Pete Midtgard of The Twistin Tarantulas whom inspired his penchant for hijinx and knack for music, his Aunt Karen Kirchoff who welcomed him in as one of her own. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Kathy Midtgard, in 2024.

Zach’s spirit will live on in the music he played, the jokes he told, and the lives he brightened. He was the kind of person who made the world more fun, more joyful, and a whole lot louder.

A celebration of Zachary's life will be held on March 22, 2025 at the 410 E Michigan St (formerly the Loft where Zach played and attended many gigs)from 7pm- 9 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you share your favorite pictures and videos of Zachary, whether of a hilarious prank, a jam session, or just a moment that captures his spirit. These memories will be treasured forever and can be sent to Miranda.lewis92@gmail.com. Donations to support his family can be made here: https://gofund.me/0220c3ac
