  I was so saddened to just tonight learn of Yvonne's passing. My husband Gary and I were good friends with her brother Mark who sadly passed away in his mid-thirties of leukemia after being treated for Hodgkins disease. We got.to know their parents, Marion and Ed, when they visited him or came up to help him move. Later, at Mark's memorial service, Gary was a pallbearer, and we met Yvonne. Then she put us on her Christmas mailing list which kept us updated through all the family's ups and downs, of which were many. Mark had given our daughter a series of savings bonds when she was an infant and toddler. When Yvonne's daughter Martha got married, in turn, we gave her a sewing machine. We were never able to visit them in Alabama, but my daughter and I had visited the elder Wheatleys at their home in Glens Falls, NY where, interestingly my daughter now lives with her husband. So our lives have been variously intertwined over the years, though not geographically close. And it hit me very hard to learn that now she too is gone ... after all the struggles and yet she kept the faith. So I must think of her as having "Gone up to Glory!" as printed on the front of the bulletin of Mark's memorial service way back when and remember the couple that sang a beautiful duet version of "How Great Thou Art!"
