Obituary For Vincent Joel Cooper

In Loving Memory of Vincent Cooper

July 20, 1963 – September 18, 2025

Vincent Cooper, a devoted son, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 18, 2025, at the age of 62. Born on July 20, 1963, in Chattanooga, Tennessee, Vincent later made Detroit, Michigan his home — a city he loved and contributed to throughout his life.

A proud graduate of Pershing High School, Class of 1981, Vincent was known for his quiet strength, steady determination, and warm presence. After graduation, he began a long and dedicated career with General Motors, working at Plant Zero, where he earned the respect and admiration of his colleagues.

Vincent was the beloved son of DaWanda Cooper and the late Charles Cooper. He is deeply mourned by his siblings: Charles Cooper, Denise Cooper, and Francine Davis, as well as his nieces Megan and Michelle, cousins, God-daughter Kara, extended family, friends, and coworkers who cherished his dry wit, and dependable nature.

He will be remembered for his love of family, loyalty to those he cared about, and the quiet integrity with which he carried himself. Though his presence will be sorely missed, his memory will remain forever in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

A celebration of Vincent’s life will be held in Redford.

Visitation: Monday, September 29, 2025 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at The Fisher Funeral Home, 24501 Five Mile Rd., Redford Twp., Michigan 48239. (313)535-3030.

Funeral Service: Tuesday, September 30, 2025 with family hour at 9:30 a.m. until of funeral at 10:00 a.m. at Fisher Funeral Home. Interment will be held at later date and time privately.

My sincere condolences to your family. Vincent was a friend of over 30 years. We didn't talk often but when we did it was always real talk. Talking trash and teasing everyone was our thing, he'll be GREATLY MISSED. 🙏🏾🌹👊🏾

I've had the privilege of working next to Vince over the last few years. Over those many days he shared endless stories about previous work experiences, his love for cars, wild party days from his younger years, debates about sports( Vince is the only person I know that watched the WNBA), and battles with the dreaded groundhog that lives in his yard. Through all these stories and conversations we had Vince rarely went a day without mentioning his family. He'd often brag about how smart his brother is or how his sisters were tough on him growing up. Stories about going down south to visit family in Tennessee which always included a mention about how his uncle played pro ball. If football came up we'd share a good laugh about how his nieces are Cowboy fans and how terrible they are(sorry nieces). There's more people among this group that he loved to talk about but his mom topped them all. I've never met her but you could tell she's a strong woman and played a key role in molding Vince into the respected man we all knew. If anyone ever had something negative to say about their own mom he would take personal offense to that. Through his old school tough guy persona it's obvious he had a soft spot for his family and I hope you all take comfort in knowing that. Vince added an element to our team that will never be replaced. It's quieter now but quieter isn't always better. -Rory
