Vickie Jean Comer was born on July 15, 1950, to James Thomas Comer and Alberetta Thelma Comer in Detroit, Michigan. She grew up in Detroit, where she accepted Christ at a young age and was baptized. Faith played an important role in her early life, as she regularly attended church with her family. Vickie graduated from Pershing High School in Detroit before continuing her education at Virginia Farrell Beauty School, where she studied alongside her sister Francina and brother James.

In her early 20s, Vickie married Delroy Campbell and changed her name to Vickie Jean Campbell. They welcomed a son, Delroy Edward James Campbell, into the world. She later had another son, Jamell Antoine-Allen Tyson. Vickie was known for her vibrant personality and sense of humor, always bringing joy and laughter to her family. She was a devoted family member, always ready to lend a hand whenever needed.

As a long-time resident of Highland Park, Michigan, Vickie built many lasting friendships. Several years ago, she was diagnosed with kidney disease, which eventually led to other health complications. Despite the challenges of dialysis, she faced her illness with strength for many years. On Friday, September 27, 2024, Vickie passed away after a courageous battle.

She was preceded in death by her son Delroy Edward James Campbell, her mother Alberetta Thelma Comer, and her father James Thomas Comer. Vickie leaves behind her son Jamell Antoine-Allen Tyson, her sister Francina Harris and her children Latricia, Price, and Myron, her brother James Comer Jr., three grandchildren Caprice Marie Tyson, Hugh Webster Boze, and Raymond Montinez Boze, her uncle Fred Comer, along with numerous cousins, relatives, and friends who will miss her dearly.

A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, October 7, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. Family and friends may gather from 10 a.m. until the memorial service at The Fisher Funeral Home, 24501 Five Mile Road, Redford Twp., Michigan 48239. (313) 535-3030.
