Obituary For Troy Allen Nicholson

Troy Allen Nicholson, age 53, of Lincoln Park, Michigan passed away peacefully on September 7, 2022 at his home with family and friends after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Dearborn, Michigan on June 23, 1969 to the late John Douglas and Dolores Mendoza Nicholson. Troy is survived by his brother Johnny Nicholson, aunt Mary (Tim) Snellman, cousin Alicia (Jay) Sanders and many additional cousins.

After several positions in the hospitality industry Troy joined the United States Postal Service and retired after 20 years of service. He had a very generous spirit, an outrageous sense of humor, and could turn the most mundane activities into an adventure. Troy was a very compassionate person who loved his family, chosen family, and friends. His keen wit kept us laughing, amongst our tears, right up to the very end.

A Celebration of Life service for Troy Allen Nicholson will be held on Sunday, October 2nd at 1:00 p.m. in the Fr. Karmanos Park, behind the Grecian Center, in Southgate, Michigan. Attire is casual. Please RSVP to Michael Coleman by texting 313.386.2272, as soon as possible, as lunch will be provided and a headcount is required.

Condolences

  • September 19, 2022

Our sincere condolences to Troy's family and loved ones. Troy will always have a huge place in my heart and will be missed dearly. We shared so many special moments together over the years. Picking one, Troy brought a yellow rose to me at work with a letter of how much I meant to him and the world. Troy saved my life. Many have never known this fact. He knew what I tried to do at 18 the night before. That was Troy. He never let his friends go a day without letting them know how much he loved them. The world has lost a light in this darkness. Rest in peace my brother.
