Tristen Darwin Skelton, of Redford, Michigan, passed away on April 15, 2026, at the age of 27 years old.
He was born on February 3, 1999, in Southfield, Michigan, to Laura and Shaun Skelton, his parents. In school, Tristen excelled in math and reading, and liked to make his classmates laugh. He enjoyed spending time with both family and friends, and especially loved playing with his sister, Nevaeh. He will be remembered for his kind heart, outgoing personality, and warm smile.
Tristen was quite athletic and loved to skateboard, and won an award for skateboarding as a young teen. He also loved cooking from a young age, camping, playing basketball, rollerskating, going to the beach and Lake Michigan, and thrifting. As a young child, Tristen loved going up north to spend time with family at the lake, where he went swimming and boating. He enjoyed living in Florida with his father as a young teen. In Florida, he learned how to surf and he loved the ocean and sand. Later as a young man, he traveled cross country on an adventure, and visited Colorado, Nevada, and lived in California for a time. He was a hardworker, and especially enjoyed basement waterproofing. He took pride in learning new skills on the job. Last year, he worked long days reframing houses with his boss. He also was a great waiter at local restaurants and charmed customers with his gregarious smile.
Tristen Skelton is survived by his mother, Laura Skelton; his sister, Nevaeh Nowak; his father, Shaun Skelton; his stepfather, Rob Nowak; his grandmother, Lois Muth, his uncle, Ryan Muth; his aunt, Lisa Giullian, and his three cousins, Raluca, Addison, and Christian Giullian.
