Obituary For Steve Reynolds

Steve Reynolds was born in Chicago, IL. On November 1, 1955, to the union of Willie and Norma Reynolds, whom both preceded him in death. Steve was the 5th child of 7 siblings. His brother Willie Jr. Reynolds and sister Catherine Anderson also preceded him in death. Steve married Quetta (Pettis) Reynolds who also preceded him death along with one grandchild.

Steve moved to Detroit, MI in 1963 along with the Reynolds Family. He attended Detroit Public Schools. Steve was introduced to the Lord and Our Savior at a very young age. He never stopped performing in his God-given talents. Steve was very musically inclined and at the age of 12, he became the lead singer in the family’s gospel group - The Reynolds Singers who recorded “Jesus Is With Me” and “Jesus Hold My Hand”.

As a teenager, Steve’s talents led him and his high-school friends to perform in the Northern High School talent shows as well as other high schools and church performances. Steve also recorded with the family’s later gospel group - New Creation. Steve even recorded a solo titled, “1-800-Call Jesus”.

Steve’s musical talents blessed him with the opportunity to perform as a musician for the gospel group - The Violinaires and Eveready’s as well as a backup musician for other gospel groups such as the Salem Travelers. Steve also shared in the moment of fame with the R&B group - CJ & Company. Steve travelled the states advancing in his musical talents.

Steve leaves to cherish two sisters, Shirley Reynolds and Arneatha Reynolds and three brothers, Frank Reynolds Sr. (Stephanie), Gregory Reynolds (Mylon), and Zhamel Reynolds. His sons Steve Young and Darwin (Tito) Young, his daughters Latoya (Young) Parker, Latosha Pettis, Danielle Pettis & Shacarra Pettis and seven grandchildren. Three nieces-Michelle Reynolds, Selene Whitfield & Angela Lewis, his nephews-William Reynolds (Yolanda), Roland Reynolds (Patricia), Frank Reynolds Jr (Juanika), Tavaren Reynolds, Melvin Anderson (Dejuana), Michael Anderson, Jerome Slaten & Landis Lewis. A host of great-nieces & great-nephews; a host of great-great nieces & nephews. One uncle – James Reynolds and aunts – Pearlean Yarbrough, Miona Leak, Queenola Campbell, Michelle Reynolds, Virginia Shearer & Julia Bowen.
