Obituary For Stanley L. Hopkins

Stanley’s Story

It all began 75 years ago in Detroit, Michigan with the birth of Stanley Hopkins on December 13, 1949. Stanley grew up in the city of Detroit with his parents and six siblings. He is fondly remembered as humorous, kind-hearted, and a jack-of-all trades; who was the Mr. Fix-It-All of the family. Educated in the Detroit Public School system, he graduated from Central High School in 1968. After high school, he attended Shaw and Schoolcraft Colleges as well as Tri-Counties Multi-Trade Centers skilled trades program.

Following his schooling and training he entered the workforce as a skilled worker in various capacities which included Auto Mechanic, Die-setter, Machine Operator, Supervisor at Yonnis AFC Home and widely-known as a Maintenance and Home Improvement Contractor. Over the years he became the one to call for any home repairs and fondly referred to as Stan-the-Man.

In 1982, he met the love of his life Coriss Brown who he joined in holy matrimony in 2013. From this union two children were born and they joined as a blended family which included four children - Antwon Hopkins, Erica Morton, Stanley Morton, and Kevin Moore. Stanley loved to cook, clean and tell jokes. A laugh was always guaranteed when you sat down and talked with Stanley, a funny story was downloading. He loved and adored his children and grandchildren; he was the patriarch of their family.

Stanley leaves to cherish in his memory: his beloved wife Coriss Hopkins and children – Kevin Moore, Erica Morton and Stanley Morton; six siblings – Charlie Hopkins Jr., Patricia Foster, Brenda Alexander, Delbert Hopkins, Sharlene Taylor and Carmelia Barnes plus a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Stanley was preceded in death by his parents Hannah and Charlie Hopkins and son Antwon Hopkins.
