Obituary For Ronald Edmond Werner

It is with heavy heart that I have to report the passing of my dad, Ronald, E. Werner. (June 12 1935 October 16 2020). Born in Dearborn Michigan to Crystal Nora (Wilkinson) born in Detroit March 25 1912 and Edmund Arnold Oscar Werner born in Chicago on December 3rd 1907 He is survived by his wife Delores Jean (Scates) and Ronald Kevin, son. He was pre-deceased by Matthew Lawrence (son), Judith Ann Thompson (sister) and Jeffrey Dean Thompson (nephew). He lived a full life traveling around the world while in the Marine Corps living in places like Hawaii, Okinawa, Japan and Germany just to name a few places before returning home to get married and start a career in law enforcement for the city of Royal Oak. He served on the police force for the city of Royal Oak Michigan for many years and upon retirement he was able to winter in Florida for many years enjoying his boat and golfing. He enjoyed both Alpine skiing and water skiing as well. The hobby of Theater Organs also was a great passion. He was instrumental in the purchase of the Redford Theater in Detroit during his tenure as president of the Motor City Theater Organ Society, a chapter of the American Theater Organ Society as well as playing an important role in the acquisition of the Theater organ in the former Washington theater now the Stage crafters in Royal Oak. He was also very active in the Metropolitan Club of America Sprit 22 in the early years of its development turning a piece of lakefront property into the camp ground of today with roads and full amenities.

    I joined the ROPD in August 1963 with your Dad and George Johnson. We went through training together but were placed on different shifts Ron was a good cop and good friend. So sorry to hear of his passing. My condolences to the family.
