Obituary For Pamela Elizabeth McGrath (Jahncke)

Pamela Jahncke McGrath, 71, of Northville, MI passed away peacefully surrounded by family on August 6th, 2024.

Pam was known for her authenticity, joy, and charisma. She was able to connect deeply and meaningfully in an instant with strangers, who quickly turned to friends. Her niece lovingly refers to her as a people collector.

Pam’s sense of adventure inspired her to leave Michigan in 1985, when she moved to Southern California to work as a metallurgical engineer with MacDonald Douglas. After retirement, she traveled the country in a fifth wheel ending up in Dripping Springs, TX. In early 2024, Pam moved back to Michigan to be close to family.

Pam leaves behind her son, Craig McGrath, and an army of family and friends who loved her deeply. A service will be held in her honor at Christ Church Cranbrook in Bloomfield Hills, MI on August 18th at 1pm ET. A livestream will be made available for loved ones to share in our celebration of the life of Pam. Please visit the following link at the time of the service: http://cccathome.org

In remembrance of Pam’s joy the family requests joyous attire to celebrate the love and joy Pam had for life.

I met Pam in Dripping Springs, TX, at the yarn shop where I work. Pam had the most joy filled smile and always a kind word for everyone, even if that 'one' was not kind in return. She had a good sense of style and color that we bonded over, plus she was always willing to model knitwear, that I greatly appreciated. We missed her when she moved back to MI but talked of seeing each other again, at her local yarn shop up there. Pam was such a bright light, full of kindness and joy. She will be greatly missed.

Sweet sweet Pam. She will be missed. We shared a love of knitting, and I helped her through her first knee surgery. I was hoping to see her new place soon. So sorry that won't happen now. I guess heaven needed another angel, because they got a beautiful one with Pam. My sincerest condolences to her niece Jessie, son Craig, and her family.

Pam was a great friend. We met in Naples, FL when we both were into our RV adventures. I learned much from her, and missed her deeply in recent years. Rest in peace, dear Pam. I will always remember you. Maggie Kiblasova

So sorry to hear about Pam. I was a friend and coworker of Pam's when she was living in Ann Arbor in the '80s. We shared many interests in music and health, played soccer together and did a sailing trip to the Virgin Islands. We kept in contact over the years. I will miss her enthusiasm and upbeat attitude. My condolences to Brian, Craig and the rest of her family.
