It is with great sadness, we announce the passing of Nancy, our loving mother on May 29th. She passed peacefully after a brief diagnosis of metastatic breast cancer surrounded by loving family.
Nancy counted her family as her greatest achievement. She was a devoted wife to David of 65 years. Loving Mother to Vicki Galloway Burr (Lawrence), Tracy Galloway, preceded in death by son, James Galloway (Debra) Dearest Grandma to Kelly Gallerini (Greg), Logan Galloway (Shane Snider), McKenna Burr Deighton (Robert), Griffin Burr, Doting Great Grandma to Cameron Gallerini (Raven), Hayley Gallerini and Nolan Deighton. And special Sister-on-law to Richard & Lynn Lee, Donald Armstrong, the Aunt & Great Aunt to all her nieces & nephews.
Nancy was a distinguished and prominent member in the legal profession. She was the Executive Director of the Oakland County Bar Association and then moved to the State Bar Association where she became the Associate Executive Director for County Bars and Membership Services. One of her most memorable accomplishments was becoming President of the National Association of Bar Executives. She was the first non-lawyer, non-executive director, non-chief of staff to hold the position.
Whether you were an aspiring attorney or a neighborhood kid, Nancy was commonly referred to as “mom” by all she adopted, advised and cared for. Known for her faith, kindness and the ability to get things done, she liked her “ducks in a row.” If you were in her life, you were a duck.
Nancy found joy in mentoring the careers of others, M.S.U. Football, Reading, Trips to her beloved Grand Hotel for Grand Pecan balls and welcoming “adopted” friends/family to holiday dinners.
We take comfort in knowing she is now in the arms of her savior and joining loved ones that preceded her in death, son James, father & mother Lyle & Florence Dusenbury, sisters Donna Armstrong & Dorothy Dusenbury.
A celebration of Nancy’s life will be held on her Birthday, June 19th at 11:00 a.m. at the Orchard Lake Community Church, Orchard Lake. The family will receive visitors at church from 9 to 11 a.m. prior to the memorial service. For those unable to attend, you can watch the event live or recorded on the Church website: www.olccp.com
