Larry Stanley McCrary was born on January 31, 1945 in Detroit, Michigan. He was the oldest child of Warren Preston McCrary and Annie Louise McCrary.

After graduating from high school in 1963, he took some community college courses exploring his passion and interest in Archaeology.

He married Brenda Marie Goodman on August 3, 1974. To this union two children were born.

On September 19, 1966 he began his career at the General Motors Fleetwood Assembly Plant working in the Paint Department. As his tenure progressed at GM, his desire to learn, grow, immaculate style of dress, charismatic personality, organizational and time management skills elevated him to the HR Department as a Health and Safety Trainer at the Cadillac Detroit Hamtramck Assembly Plant. In addition to keeping all of the employees safe at UAW Local 22; he was very involved in the North American International Auto Show, testing the performance of new vehicles, and in his spare time he would volunteer to educate the youth in Junior Achievement while guest speaking at various schools around the Metro Detroit Area. He worked at General Motors until his retirement on September 30, 2003 for a total of 37 years of service.

Larry enjoyed reading and listening to jazz. He was an avid traveler. He had a zeal for international travel, exploring and learning about other cultures. He was very well versed into fashion as he always expressed himself through his fancy attire throughout the years never once wearing a pair of jeans. He had a very distinguished sense of style. He also enjoyed purchasing sports cars and luxury vehicles.

Although he did not subscribe to any specific religious doctrine, he was spiritual. He loved and trusted God to meet his every need and he loved his family.

On January 10, 2025 three weeks shy of his 80th birthday, the Lord called him home.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife who preceded him in death, Brenda McCrary; two children, Nichole McCrary and Jason McCrary; his grandchild, Nyoria McCrary; his sister Carol McCrary, his brothers Frank McCrary and Jerry McCrary a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.
