Lanard RayShaun Hale (affectionately known as “Coach”) was born on March 16, 1971, in Detroit, Michigan. He was the oldest son of four children.
Educated in the Detroit Public School system, Coach graduated from Mackenzie High School. He was the first in his family to attend college, studying Physical Science at Wayne County Community College. He was an exceptional athlete, who loved sports, especially football.
Coach was a devoted son, beloved brother, and loyal friend to many. He was extremely close to his mother, Gladys Hale. There was nothing that he wouldn’t do for his Mama. As the oldest son, he was a constant source of support for his brothers, as well. He was truly someone that you could count on and he was always there for his family and friends. Coach also enjoyed playing chess, going fishing in the Detroit River, listening to music, and spending time with his loved ones.
Coach treasured his family and friends. People will remember him for his sense of humor, kindness, and big heart. He looked out for the people he loved.
Coach made a peaceful transition on September 6, 2026. He was preceded in death by his mother, Gladys Hale; his brother Seville “Caddy” Hale; his grandmother Helen Hale; and his great grandmother Maxine Flippen. He leaves to cherish his beloved memory – his brothers: Dennis “Suge” Hale and Shamarris “O” Hale; his uncle Thomas Hale Jr.; 5 nieces: Shamara, Brielle, Saraya, Sidnye, and Salyce; his goddaughter DeVonna Hodge; and a host of relatives and friends. He will be dearly missed by everyone who knew him.
