Obituary For Kathleen Alexa McCandless

Kathleen Alexa (Ibe) McCandless 68, of Grosse Pointe Park, Michigan, passed away peacefully on May 23, 2025. She was born on July 19, 1956, to the late David Ibe Sr. and Margaret Anne (Carey) Ibe, in Sheboygan, Wisconsin.

Kathy, a graduate of Sheboygan North High School class of 1974, went on to receive her Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education from Arizona State University. She then earned her Master’s degree in Education from Northern Illinois University. She taught as a reading specialist in the Barrington, IL School District for over 19 years.

The beloved wife of James McCandless for over 24 years, they married on August 13, 1988 in Chicago, IL.

Kathy is survived by her siblings, Christine (Jeffrey) Rotsch of Naples, FL; Karen (John) Griffiths of Golden Valley, MN; David (Mary) Ibe of Fort Wayne, IN; stepdaughters Maria (Kevin) Lyons of Woodstock, IL; Kelly (Toby) Harris of New Albany, OH; grandchildren Jackson and Mallory.

She was proceeded in death by her husband James McCandless; parents David Ibe and Margaret Anne Ibe.

Kathy will be laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery in Sheboygan, Wisconsin.
