Howard Worthy Jr, 85 was born on May 5, 1938, in Detroit, Michigan. He was the oldest of two children. He is proceeded in death by his parents, the late Howard Worthy, Sr. and Alma Kemp and his brother, Norman Worthy.
Howard grew up in Detroit, Michigan in his early adolescence. During his childhood, he and his brother Norman would visit the family farm in the southern states and learn as children the importance of manual labor and caretaking. Howard attended Central High School and later went on to join the United States Army as a Private First Class where he also played for the Army Professional Basketball Team. Safely returning from the Military, Howard went on to join the Detroit Police Department where he climbed in rankings such as Patrolman, School Car, Vice Squad, Morality Squad and Detective at Precinct #7. During this time, he welcomed his four children. Later he would form his private detective agency and become Founder and President of the Black International Private Detective Association.
As an adult, Howard volunteered in the Detroit Community as a basketball coach and mentor, educating others on government proceedings and laws, and enjoyed traveling. His main interests were politics where he ran for Presidential Candidacy. He also was very active in the Christian Church, becoming a pastor and providing daily devotions to friends, family and the community.
He is survived by his children, Howard C. Worthy III, Marc Worthy, Portia Worthy and Portland Worthy-Johnson. Seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
