Obituary For Elsie Jean Weir

Mrs. Elsie Jean Weir departed this earthly realm on Tuesday, August 31, 2021. Elsie Jean Weir was born April 23, 1935 in North Carolina to Rean Wimbush and George Clemons. Elsie was one of four children, brother Troy Ruff, Christiansburg Virginia, the late Sammy Clemons and Geraldine Martin (both who preceded her in death). In 1950 Elsie moved to Detroit, Michigan where she was educated in the Detroit Public School System. Elsie gave her life to Christ at an early age. Elsie was dedicated to her family where she was a stay at home mom for several years. In 1970 Elsie began working as a Home Healthcare Provider until she retired in 2000. Elsie loved her family and friends and it was a joy to be in her presence. She was so much fun to be around and had a great sense of humor. She was a “tell it like it is” kind of person. Elsie loved to cook and share her delicious dishes not only with her family but the neighborhood as well. Her favorite pass time was fishing, playing Bid Whist and traveling. Her loving home was always open and the favorite hangout for the neighborhood. She was always available to anyone who needed her or a place to stay. You could always depend on her if you had nowhere to go or a place to eat. Most friends would just sit on her front porch to just talk or collect their thoughts. Elsie will be missed by all who knew her. She will always have a special place in our loving hearts and memories. Elsie leaves to mourn her Loving Daughters Cheryl Lynn McCrea (Randal), Land O Lakes Florida; Theresa Perry, Detroit, MI; Loving Son, John Bonney III, Detroit, MI; devoted Grandchildren; Great-Grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Rest in Heaven Mom and Grandmother!!

Praying for Elsie family to be comforted and have peace. I remember your mom pulling off her wig in front of my high school friends and she just started laughing. The best cook, and her love for family. May my cousin Rest In Peace.

Hello, Cheryl & family our deepest sympathy goes out to you during this horrific time. Mom's can never be replaced because centrally they are the center peace of our lives if I should say so myself because when my brother and I lost our mother (Irene Vinson Odom) it took alot out of us which we could never get back; however please know GOD will pull you through this and you shall see her again. We love you and apologize we couldn't be there but know we are here in North Carolina if you should need anything!!!! Warm Regards, Lanisha Odom & Family
