Edward R. Meiers, Sr. passed away Thursday, August 31st in Livonia, MI, at 62 years old. He is survived by his wife Julie Meiers (62), son Edward R. Meiers Jr (30), and the memory of Vincent Meiers, who passed away March 2nd, 2013 at just 18 (born November 11th, 1994).

Ed Sr (lovingly known as just "Sr." by friends of his son) was a large figure in the community of other grieving parents with sudden child loss after the unexpected passing of his own son Vincent (known as "Vinnie"), and will be remembered by many for a group he created on Facebook that was meant to honor all children lost too soon, and he and Julie befriended several folks in the decade since.

Throughout his life, Ed Sr had a passion for the moving industry. As he got older and his body didn't agree with him as it once did, he still insisted on being there for physical activities, such as moving large furniture he couldn't handle or maintaining a pool in the backyard, and having a large vehicle for transporting large items, be it a van while younger, or some form of an SUV later in life. He'd always insist on doing things around the house or in the yard as well, and took pride in doing so, despite his doctors' insistence on the contrary.

He will also be known for his love of his family, especially watching TV with his wife of 32 years with a heartwarming, memorable laugh, coaching his kids playing soccer as children, and always making sure to attend field trips with his sons through adolescence and checking in on his oldest Edward Jr. through calls and texts throughout his adult life, no matter how frequent the check-ins were. He also loved his cats, raising several throughout his life, and lovingly caring for them all well beyond their expected lifespan.
