Obituary For Devonte DeShawn Mitchell

Devonté Deshawn “Man” Mitchell was born on December 22, 1994, to Jerry Mitchell and Lavania Mitchell. From an early age, Devonté was full of energy, curiosity, and personality. As a child, he loved giving neighborhood kids rides in his toy Jeep truck, bringing smiles and laughter wherever he went. He accepted Christ at a young age and was baptized at Middlebelt Baptist Church.

Devonté attended Detroit Public Schools and later graduated from Inkster High School. He continued his education at Langston University in Oklahoma. He was ambitious, independent, and always took pride in his appearance. Whether it was his clothing or his sneakers, Devonté loved looking his best and expressing his unique style.

Devonté lived life on his own terms and was known for his sense of humor, strong personality, and unforgettable presence. If you knew him, you knew he could always find a way to ask for “just $20,” often bringing laughter and playful moments to those around him.

On May 7, 2026, Devonté was called home to be with the Lord and reunited with his grandparents and cousins who preceded him in death. Although his passing leaves a deep sorrow in the hearts of many, his memory will continue to live on through the moments shared with him and the impact he made on those who knew him.

Devonté leaves to cherish his memory: his beloved son, Enzokuhle "Enzo" Frimpong; his parents, Jerry Mitchell, Lavania Reynolds, and Tantinda Rutledge; his bonus grandmother, Lynnette Rutledge; four sisters, Teresa Fambro (Robert), Iyana Mitchell, Aushaé Clopton, and Zahria Mitchell; one brother, Deandre Davis; two nieces, Ashley Davis and Jazmin Fambro; two nephews, Kenneth Davis and Perry Sanders III; his uncles, Sylvester Mitchell, David Mitchell, Theodore Reynolds, Jay Rutledge (Shanika), and Scott Rutledge (Keseanda); his aunts, Salina Franklin, Tina Black, Kendra Lattner, and Denise Rutledge; along with many cousins, relatives, and friends who will forever remember him.

Devonté’s presence brought light, laughter, and love to all who knew him. His kind spirit, sense of style, and unforgettable smile will never be forgotten. Though his time here was far too short, the memories he created and the love he shared will live on forever in the hearts of those who loved him. He will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
