
Daniel Herman Melke passed away peacefully at Garden City Hospital on May 30, 2019 after a brief illness. He was born March 10, 1942 to August and Eva Melke in Detroit, Michigan. He was baptized into the Christian faith on March 22, 1942 and confessed his faith in Christ his Savior at his confrmation on May 20, 1956 both at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Detroit, Michigan. Daniel served honorably in the U.S. Army from 1964-1966, stationed in Germany during the Vietnam War. He worked a number of years as an auto repair mechanic when he returned home to Detroit. Daniel was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, George and his sister, Kathleen. He is survived by his sister-in-law, Judy Melke; his brother-in-law, Martin Wildauer; 11 nephews and nieces; and cousins. Daniel’s cremains will be interned at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan. “Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord.”
