
Connie May Thomas-Turner was born on June 5, 1958, to Cornelius Vanderbilt Thomas
and Ruby Mae Thomas (Gibson) who preceded her in death. Connie made her
transition on February 8, 2025. Connie was the second youngest of six siblings: Venus
Washington (Luther), Cornelius V. Thomas, Jr., Ruby Cokley, Darrell L. Thomas, all
who preceded her in death and her only living brother Larry L. Thomas, Sr.
Connie leaves behind her dear husband Thomas Turner, she leaves behind two
daughters, Loleatha C. Thomas of Fayetteville, North Carolina, and Alecia Fullilove
(Maurice), and a son David Turner, Her grandchildren Charise Taylor, Maurice Fullilove,
III, Madisen Taylor, Matthew Fullilove, Marisa Fullilove, Carlos Turner (Natesia), Amber
Turner, Jessica Turner, Jaida Turner, and Kennedy Turner. Great grandchildren Nia,
Callie, and Nas. A host of nieces, nephews, and great nieces and great nephews, great-
great nieces, and great-great nephews.
Connie attended Detroit Public Schools and she attended the Detroit College of
Business. Connie was involved in many different activities, such as being the Co-
Founder of Camp 911, through the Detroit Fire Department, Detroit Police Department's
Citizens Police Academy, State of Michigan Citizens Police Academy of Lansing,
Michigan, Prosecutor Kym Worthy's Training Classes, Community Emergency
Response Team (CERT), Connie was also a Master Gardener of Greening of Detroit,
MSU Extension, Food Distribution, she assisted Pastor Yvette Griffin, of Pilgrim Baptist
Church with food distribution at the Community Center for ten years. She was also
involved with Homeland Security, Connie would often say Homeland Security taught her
to know her limitations,
Connie was a very giving person. She loved to help people. She made sure they had
the things they needed. Each year Connie bought turkeys and had a list of friends who
she would them to. This brought excitement and joy to her soul. She loved to give food
to many people. She would share whatever she had with them.
Connie worked at Gerber Day Care, which was a part of Henry Ford Hospital. It was
later changed to Child Time Children's Center where she remained for sixteen years.
There wasn't a baby that she didn't like and she especially loved the newborns.
She was a caregiver to her father and mother until they both made their transition.
Connie was very proud of her daughter Loleatha who served twenty years in the United
States Army on active duty. She was also proud of her daughter Alecia who continues
to serve within the Detroit Police Department for twenty-six years.
Connie had many dear friends in her life, too many to name. Morganna Brantley and her
entire family. The late Willie and Mary Boothes and their entire family.
Connie May Thomas-Turner lived a life filled with love, service, and devotion to her
family, friends, and community, she will be truly missed and forever remembered by all
whose lives she touched.
