Today we celebrate the life of Charlene Denise Jones. On the 5th of October, 1965 Charlene was born. She was the baby girl of eight siblings born to the proud parents of James B. Melvin, Jr. and Marie Leona Jones, both who proceeded her in death along with siblings: Carolyn Jones – James Jones and Donnell Jones. Charlene was fondly known by family and friends as “Charla”. She was best known for her sense of humor and dancing antics.
Charlene was educated in the Detroit Public School system. Shortly after completing her educational goals, she went on to work for a local beauty supply store for over 20 years where she grew to know and meet many local customers throughout her employment. Charlene was a free-spirited, bold and vivacious person. Her love of family was limitless, as some of you can attest to with her late-night telephone calls and conversations. She enjoyed dancing and performing her Michael Jackson routines, she was the life of the party.
On September 1st, 1996, Charlene gave birth to her beloved daughter, Chyna De’Naye Jones. Her pride and joy was watching Chyna grow and become the beautiful talented woman she is today.
Charlene was a young woman with a strong determination to overcome any and all challenges she met with perseverance. In July 2024, “Charlene” was met with the biggest challenge of her life and over the next couple of months God gave Charlene the fortitude to wage a courageous battle. God saw her once bright, vivacious personality start to dim and in his mighty wisdom, on Monday – November 18th, our Lord and Savior gently lifted her and placed her in her mother’s arms. She is now in the house of our Savior with many family and friends. So, family be not weary she is in a good place, she fought a good fight. She is now at peace with love surrounding her whole being.
Charlene leaves to cherish her memory: one daughter, Chyna De’Naye Jones; three sisters: Regina Jones – Tina D. Morrell (Steve) – Rosie Lee Jones; one brother: Tyrone Jones; one nephew: Kenneth P. Jones; Nieces – Keili Jones-Westbrook (Calvin); Dina Pearson; Grand Nieces and Nephews: – Dionna Pearson – Devon Pearson - J’Khari Jones – Diamond Maisevich (Alex) - DeAnne Pearson – Daria Pearson and a host of relatives and friends, too many to name them all.
Two special and dear friends – Nadine Stevens and Ronald Hoff.

“A MESSAGE FROM CHARLENE”
Well, I must leave you for a little while
Please do not grieve and shed wild tears
And hug your sorrows through the years
Live on and do all things the same
Feed not your loneliness on empty days
But fill each waking hour in useful ways
Reach out your hand in comfort and in cheer
And I, in turn, will comfort you and hold you near
And never, never, be afraid to die
For I am waiting for you in the SKY

“TO OUR CHARLA”
My heart is broken, I cannot breathe
All I know is that you are free
I can hardly see through my tears
How will we make it through the years
I know it’s selfish to say
But I wished you could have stayed
You are needed in so many ways
We love you so much it really hurts

God said we will see you again and we will all breathe without SIN
