Obituary For Arvilla M. Moore

Arvilla Marie Moore, (a.k.a. Nana), departed this earth on Saturday, February 22, 2020, after a sudden illness. She was aged 87 years young. Born on October 12, 1932, Arvilla was born in Detroit, Michigan the second oldest of six children of Carl Bruhnsen and Thelma Peters Bruhnsen. Arvilla is preceded in death by her late husband, Archie, her parents, and her older brother Gary, and younger brother Lloyd. Arvilla retired from the Olga’s Kitchen Corporate office in Troy in 1997 after 19 years in their payroll department. Arvilla was also appointed as a member of the Redford Township Historical Commission for nine years and helped to oversee the move from the Little Red Schoolhouse on Beech Daly to its current location on Berwyn Street. She was passionate about Redford Township and its history and was a 55-year resident. Most people around the township knew her as “Nana”. Arvilla was an avid needlepoint and cross-stitch enthusiast who enjoyed making gifts for family and friends. As a side business, she once owned “Arvilla’s Antiques” and was a keen antique collector and dealer. Her family has great memories of helping her set up her booths at Tel-Twelve Mall and other malls in the area way back when. At the end of her selling days, she held an auction hosted by American Eagle Auction and Appraisal Company. That auction took a record six hours to complete due to the sheer volume of antiques that she had. She was happy that many of her “treasures” found new homes that day. Arvilla also had a very silly side and liked to go to dollar stores to get funny hats or headbands. She would wear them around the different stores she visited just to make people smile. Arvilla leaves behind her children, Carole (Craig) Buhlman, Debi (Marwood) Jariett, and Michael (Paula) Moore. She also leaves behind four grandchildren: Stacey (Bradley) Luoma, Kelley Jaynes, Scott (Alisha) Jariett, and Briana Moore. Her legacy also includes nine great-grandchildren: Dakotah, Brittaney, Evan, Nickolas, Travis, Alexis, Hayden, Colton and Olivia. Arvilla was looking forward to greeting her first great-great grandchild, a little girl to be named Illyria Katherine Arvilla. She will be dearly missed every day. Arvilla will be interred in a private ceremony on Saturday, March 21, 2020 at Grandlawn Cemetery in Detroit. A Memorial Service is planned for Saturday, August 22, 2020 at the Ancient Order of Hibernians Hall on Five Mile in Redford from 12:30pm to 3:00pm. Anyone may attend whose life was touched by this wonderful lady.
