Anita Frances Agosta (DeLavalla), was born to Lucy Cutrone and Victor DeLavalla on April 23rd, 1947 and passed away peacefully in her home on February 23rd, 2026. She leaves behind her beloved daughters, Christina Agosta and AnnaRose (Jerry) Miller, grandchildren Kari (Nicholas) Elam, Michael Anderson, Jacob Miller, Jackson Miller, great-grandchildren Aubrey Elam and Wyatt Elam, sister Priscilla Irvin, nephew Scott Worthington, niece Michelle Bilancetti-Hamilton (Trevour) and great-nephew Tony Bilancetti.
Born and raised in Detroit, MI, she moved to New York with her mom for a brief time as a teenager, before moving back to Michigan. While working at Mott's in Detroit, she met William Agosta and on June 10th, 1966 they married. Soon after, they started a beautiful family, and in 1972, bought their home that she continued to reside in for the next 53 years.
Anita enjoyed a variety of interests, such as dancing and singing. She spent several holidays harmonizing with her sister, and turned many meal times into a sing-along, wooden spoon in hand as a microphone.
Her love of being outdoors in the sunshine also brought her a passion for gardening. But when the day was done, she was known for trading in her garden gloves for a night of watching wrestling, and appreciated a good boxing match. She left her family with not only a shared love of these activities, but many fond memories of enjoying those moments with her.
A woman who worked hard her whole life, she spent years in factory work, at Detroit Rubber and Collins & Aikman, where she formed many close friendships, before aquiring her favorite position as a full-time Grandma.
She spent many years helping to care for her grandchildren, and eventually her great-grandchildren. Taking walks, riding bikes, going for ice cream, playing games, attending school events, and being a sounding board for all of life's troubles and worries. Nothing brought her greater joy than being with them and playing an active role in their lives. She always stayed closely connected, sharing a uniquely special bond with each and every one of them.
Dedicated to her family, she was intentionally present, keeping contact with distant relatives and checking in with her daughters and grandchildren multiple times a week. Keeping family close was the most important thing in the world to her.
Always there for anyone who needed her,
she became a cherished mother figure to many over the years, opening her heart and home to all who needed a loving place to land. This even includes a number of pets who showed up on her doorstep and never left. True to her character, she selflessly provided loving care not only for her parents in the final stages of their lives, but for her ex-husband, who was also her dear friend, through his final days.
Her unfaltering faith carried her through many difficult seasons in her life. Not one to let her feelings or her love go unspoken, she never shied away from a difficult conversation. She was open, thoughtful, stubborn, and loving. Her genuity, wisdom and love will be deeply missed.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation be made in her name to Paralyzed Veterans of America. As an avid donor to a great number of charities, she was proud to have been able to give to those she held closest to her heart, such as Paralyzed Veterans of America, for the past 40 years. Even in hard times, it was important to her to continue to give faithfully to others.
A public gathering will be held on Wednesday, the 18th of March, from 3pm-4pm at Fisher Funeral home, 24501 Five Mile Rd, Redford Township, MI 48239 with the funeral service to begin at 4pm.
